Kazakhstan: farming goes digital

Under the Digital Qazaqstan strategy, agriculture is being digitised in six areas — from subsidies to land records. The result will be a single Digital Agro platform. Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov reported this at a government meeting on October 6.

Key figures

  • 39.6 million animals registered
  • Land map: 100%
  • Soil testing: 80%
  • Smart farms: over 200
  • Digital enterprises: 650+

The Gosagro subsidy system has more than 209,000 users and is free for applicants — the earlier private system charged up to 11 MCI per application. A traceability system for crop production with satellite monitoring is being built. Farms already use fuel-control and navigation systems, agricultural drones and smart irrigation. The next step is state support measures that encourage farmers to adopt digital technology.
