Ukraine: agricultural exports at the limit of logistics

Since the start of October Ukraine has exported 1.125 million tonnes of agricultural products — about 50% of expected volumes. Agrarian Policy Minister Taras Vysotskyi said on October 15 that logistics are working at the limit of their physical capacity and no significant growth in shipments is expected soon.

Key figures

  • Exports: 1.125 million t
  • Grain: 670,000 t
  • Oilseeds: 184,000 t
  • Sunflower oil: 138,000 t
  • Meal: 132,000 t

The ministry supports prioritising exports of value-added products. The domestic food market is working and there is no long-term shortage. About 70% of Ukraine's farmland is worked by small and medium farms of up to 5,000 ha; larger farms account for about 20% of the land.
