USDA launches an interactive dashboard for analyzing grain exports

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has introduced a new online tool that makes it easier to analyze official data on inspections and volumes of exported US grain.
Key figures
- The platform's launch was announced on October 14 by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service and the Federal Grain Inspection Service.
- The new interactive Export Inspection and Weighing Dashboard lets users view weekly export figures, compare current data with previous years and filter information by grain type, destination country, calendar year and marketing year.
- Users can also examine export activity in individual port regions. Previously, much of this information was published as standard weekly reports. The new format makes it easier to compare figures visually and spot changes in export flows.
Why this matters for international trade
Access to up-to-date export statistics helps grain producers, traders, exporters and logistics companies better understand conditions in international markets.
- Comparing data across periods and analyzing shipment destinations can serve as an additional tool for assessing market opportunities and planning business activities.
This information is also of practical interest to transportation and logistics companies: export trends help them gauge overall freight flows and take changes in international trade into account when planning operations.
- That said, grain inspection statistics do not guarantee future shipments or demand. For a complete analysis, they need to be considered together with sales data, agricultural commodity prices, shipping costs and the overall state of the global economy.
Even so, the move to an interactive format makes official data more accessible and expands the possibilities for analyzing US grain exports.
