Ukraine: farming practices to EU standards

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy plans to complete the rollout of sustainable farming practices based on European approaches within 2–3 years. Deputy Minister Vitalii Holovnia said so on October 22 at a discussion on climate change adaptation held as part of Pre-COP31.

Key figures

  • Timeline: 2–3 years
  • Some requirements phased in
  • Some will become mandatory
  • Financial incentives for farmers
  • Irrigation: strategy to 2030

Some issues have already been brought in line with EU rules: plowing of riparian strips and peatlands, and the use of mineral fertilizers. Recipients of state support undertake to comply with them.
