Ukraine sold Egypt $825 million of farm products in ten months and is discussing a food hub
Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotskyi, on a working visit to Egypt, met with Khaled Ahmed Salah El-Din, Secretary General of the Mostakbal Misr Agency for Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported on November 6. The two sides discussed expanding deliveries of Ukrainian farm products, creating a food hub in Egypt and cooperation on irrigation. In January — October 2026, Ukraine exported $825 million of farm products to Egypt.
Key figures
- Exports: $825 million
- Period: January — October
- Mainly wheat and corn
- Idea: a hub in Egypt
- New: irrigation
- Partner buys imports
What was discussed
Egypt remains one of the key sales markets for Ukrainian farm products. Deliveries are mainly grains, above all wheat and corn. The negotiating partner matters for the market: the Mostakbal Misr agency takes part in meeting Egypt's food needs and, in particular, carries out state purchases of imported wheat and other strategic goods.
Food hub
One promising direction is infrastructure for storing, processing and distributing Ukrainian farm products in Egypt. According to the ministry, such a hub could:
- support stable deliveries;
- develop logistics routes;
- expand the presence of Ukrainian producers in the markets of Africa and the Middle East.
Irrigation
The two sides agreed to start a separate line of cooperation on irrigation: exchanging experience and technical knowledge and working out joint projects. Egypt has extensive practical experience with large-scale irrigation projects and with expanding irrigated land, and for Ukraine, developing land reclamation infrastructure is now a pressing matter. The hub had been raised before: in February 2025 the sides discussed developing such infrastructure and attracting international financing.
What it means for buyers
For grain producers, the news confirms that the Egyptian market remains a major buyer of wheat and corn, and that the ministry is now talking not only about traditional deliveries but also about a long-term partnership. The hub is still at the discussion stage, and the ministry gives no dates or amounts, so it is too early to count on it in plans for the coming season.
